What is Water Height?

LUMCON water height measurements are displayed on our website relative to NAVD88 Mean Sea Level. This relationship to Mean Sea Level is calculated using the following method. A mark on the station platform is surveyed relative to the closest practical survey benchmarks. The location of the YSI Sonde pressure sensor, relative to the station mark, is accurately measured. The YSI Sonde pressure sensor is carefully maintained at the same vertical distance from that station mark. Below is a description of the most recent station measurements.

LUMCON Lake Pontchartrain Station:

The LUMCON Lake Pontchartrain Station Mark has not yet been established.  The YSI Sonde pressure ports have been initially positioned one meter above the bottom, below the station platform.  No Station Mark has yet been established or surveyed because the platform is new and likely to settle a bit in the first three to six months.  The YSI Sonde will be deployed to the same position up to the time and after the time that the Station Mark is established and surveyed.
